(HINDERANCES TO PRAYER)

1.      PRIDE / SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS

(Luke 19:9-14)    “Two men went up into the temple to pray…
This man went down to his house justified rather than the other.”

2.      (Prov. 21:13) “WHOSO STOPPETH HIS EARS at the cry of the poor shall not be heard”

3.      WILLFUL SIN / DISOBEDIENCE

(Isa. 59:1-2) “… your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear.”
(Prov. 28:9) “He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law… prayer abomination
(Prov. 15:29) “The Lord is far from the wicked, but He heareth the prayer of the righteous”
(Psalm 66:18) “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me”
(1 Peter 3:12) “… the face of the Lord is against them that do evil”

4.      DOUBT

(James 1:5-8) “… let him ask of God … nothing doubting …”

5.      FAILURE TO ASK

(James 4:2) “Ye have not, because ye ask not
(Matt. 7:7-8;      Philp. 4:6)

6.      SELFISHNESS

(James 4:3) “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it with your lusts”

7.      UNFORGIVING ATTITUDE

(Matt. 6:14-15) “… if ye forgive not men … neither will your Father forgive your trespasses”

8.      NEGLECT / DO NOTHING

(Col. 4;2) “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving
(Matt. 26:41) “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation …”

9.      FAMILY RELATIONSHIP

(1 Peter 3:7) “… that your prayers be not hindered”

10. LACK OF PERSISTENCE
